About the Club

Oyster Harbors Club is situated on Grand Island, Osterville on the southern shores of Cape Cod, MA. Founded in 1926, Oyster Harbors Club has become synonymous with championship caliber golf and the ultimate summer retreat. The 18 hole championship course is regarded as one of Donald Ross's last original designs and has remained one of New England's best kept secrets. Beginning in the Fall of 2023, the Club intends to re-establish Ross's original designs with the help of architect Gil Hanse. The enhancement plan includes the installation of a new pump house and full golf course irrigation system, finishing with Gil Hanse's master improvement plans. Oyster Harbors Club is looking for highly motivated individuals with a passion for golf and its history. 

Job Description

Interns will have the opportunity to work with the Superintendent and assistants on an internship program to meet their needs. This program will include, but is not limited to the following activities:

• IPM Techniques and Scouting
• Equipment Use Management
• Fertilizer & Pesticides Applications
• Irrigation Installation & Repair
• Course Set-up
• Water Management
• Mowing/Rolling
• Daily Course Maintenance
• Opportunity to obtain Massachusetts Pesticides Applicators License

Learning Objectives

Oyster Harbors Club will provide a hands-on experience that will develop and improve the fundamentals needed to maintain a golf course and it's crew at a championship level.  Interns will work closely with Superintendents in all facets of the job to provide better understandings of golf course management practices, communication skills, time management, leadership and team work.  Upon completion of the program, Interns will be expected to manage a crew and all daily operations--and with the network opportunities provided--be well on their way to taking the next step as a qualified assistant superintendent.
