Assistant Superintendent

Wildcat Cliffs Country Club is seeking an individual to help lead the golf course maintenance team in maintaining the course to tournament conditions daily.  The candidate should be willing to learn and support the golf course management team in daily and project operations. 

Wildcat Cliffs Country Club is a private club located on the Eastern Continental Divide in the Western North Carolina Mountains between Highlands and Cashiers.  Wildcat Cliffs is open 6 months of the year (May- October) growing cool season grasses above 4,100 ft elevation.  Wildcat Cliffs’ 18-hole course was designed by George Cobb (1961) and updated by Bill Bergin (2007).  The club is continuously evolving to keep up with the ever-changing needs of its membership.  The latest golf amenity is a two acres short game practice area opened in the summer of 2020.  The newest Master Plan developed by Bill Bergin for proposed course improvements is being studied along with an extension drainage plan.  The club is also in the development stages for a new joint golf course maintenance and community services facility.

Job Responsibilities

• Work with Golf Course Superintendent in scheduling and supervising staff.
• Application of fertilizers and pesticides.
• Water management to include irrigation system operation and maintenance.
• Annual and perennial landscape bed maintenance.
• Equipment operation.
• Construction project management.
• Maintenance and setup of high-end croquet lawns.
• Record keeping of chemical applications, expenses, and staff scheduling.
