Responsible for assisting the Golf Course Superintendent in operations and maintenance of the golf courses and related grounds. The responsibilities include: turf grass agronomic programs, property/asset management, personnel management, budget/forecasting, financial management, member relations, scheduling/maintenance or irrigation systems, pesticide applications, record keeping, and compliance of regulatory issues. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent reports to the Golf Course Superintendent and works to create an environment where staff is involved and enthusiastic, with open communications and respect for themselves, members, guests and the property. - Associates degree or Certificate in Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field plus 2-3 years’ experience in golf course maintenance with a progressive career track.
- Successful experience assisting with planning, scheduling, instructing, training and directing staff in the performance of golf course maintenance procedures and job responsibilities.
- Proficiency managing irrigation system components and control systems.
- Extensive experience in precision water management, irrigation programming, and supplemental hand watering.
- Proficiency with computer-based word processing programs, irrigation central control systems, and multi social media platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems, and efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Florida pesticide applicators license, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.
- Knowledge of the game of golf, and its associated rules.
- Skill in recruiting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating, and motivating personnel.
