JOB SUMMARY: The Golf Course Intern will perform labor involved in golf course maintenance; perform semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work; operate small hand powered equipment; and occasionally perform work involving large equipment such as tractors, loaders and an assortment of mowing equipment.

The Golf Course Intern will work with the Course Superintendents to learn planning, irrigation, spray initiatives, planning for tournament play, adjustments based on weather demands and more

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow guidelines and policies discussed within the employee handbook
  • Treat all members, guests and staff in a friendly and respectful manner in accordance with the standards of excellence of The Greenbrier Sporting Club.
  • Represent the company with positive, professional conduct
  • Must be willing to assist other departments in any way to better the organization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a valid drivers license
  • Must be highly motivated, innovative, flexible, and willing to take the initiative
  • Must be willing to work in adverse weather
  • Effectively work in a team environment
  • Ability to project a positive, professional image to members and guests 
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting and moving up to 50 pounds (for example, lifting and moving sand, seed, tools, etc)
  • Ability to freely access all areas of the course and maintenance buildings
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, push and pull for extended periods of time
  • Vision must be correctable to be able to read and write
  • Hearing must be sufficient to understand conversation in a noisy environment
