Under the supervision of the Director of Golf Course Maintenance, The Superintendent is responsible for all aspects of golf course maintenance, including operations and personnel training, development and management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following;
Have a working knowledge of all golf course maintenance equipment.
Have a working knowledge of irrigation pump stations.
Have a working know of computer irrigation control systems.
Have a working knowledge of irrigation satellites.
Have a working knowledge of automatic irrigation heads and design.
Ability to calibrate all forms all forms of pesticide and fertilizer application equipment.
Ability to identify turf grass and landscape weeds and recommend treatment.
Interview and hiring skills of golf course maintenance and landscape employees.
Train Assistant Superintendent.
Coordinate pesticide applications for both courses.
Coordinate fertilizer applications for both courses.
Coordinate daily scheduling of staff duties.
Supervise all field operations.
Coordinate irrigation programs on a daily bases with irrigation technicians.
Coordinate with equipment manager, reel sharpening and other maintenance programs.
Demonstrated excellent disciplinary protocol; including monitoring tardiness, attendance, safety standards and practices, verbal and written warnings.
Coordinate record keeping for both courses including chemical applications, fertilizer applications, MSDS sheets, soil and tissue sampling.
Set up communications with venders for ordering purposes.
Proper buying practices, ex., purchase and ordering and Director Approval.
Establish employee training programs with appropriate documentation including, mowing schedules and proper mowing practices, course set up for play, proper chemical and fertilizer applications, computer irrigation systems, pump station protocol.
Be available at all hours in event of an emergency
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be familiar with proper and correct techniques to safely operate equipment and safely apply chemicals per manufactures specifications.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Must be able to work in the heat for extended periods of time.
Previous club experience preferred.
Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers and members.
Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
