| Wilmington Country Club Grounds Department maintains a strong team centric atmosphere with emphasis on promoting from within, and placing assistants into superintendent roles managing our two golf courses or through external opportunities. In the past four years, Wilmington Country Club has placed two course superintendents into positions of their own. The Club’s property encompasses 345 acres, consisting of 36-holes of golf and practice areas; racquets amenities with clay courts, grass courts, hard courts, paddle courts and squash courts. The South Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1959 and renovated by Andrew Green in 2020, has played host to a number of USGA and national amateur championships. Most recently, the club hosted the penultimate tournament for the PGA TOUR, the 2022 BMW Championship. The North Course, designed by Dick Wilson in 1961, will undergo a renovation by Andrew Green in late 2024 that will include a property wide irrigation installation. Once completed, the new layout will complement the Club’s award winning racquets program that has hosted many prestigious events including the National Junior and Senior Tennis Championships.

Wilmington Country Club is looking for an Assistant-In-Training to join the agronomy team. The AIT will work closely with the golf course superintendents, assistant superintendents, and will report directly to the Director of Golf Courses and Grounds. Position Description: The successful candidate will gain experience with all facets of golf management, to include budgeting and project management. An example of this will include a tee through green renovation of the North Course, including a campus wide irrigation installation. Your Duties and Responsibilities: - Small project development and execution.
- Calibration of GPS sprayers, spreaders, and applying plant protectant materials; monitoring chemical records and managing inventories using generally accepted accounting principles. Operation of all equipment utilized on course
- Course set-up and moisture management of all fine turf playing surfaces.
- Diagnose, repair irrigation issues when called upon.
- Understand operation of all equipment to train our team utilizing our SOPs.
