BallenIsles Country Club seeks 2nd Assistant Superintendent/Environmental Technician for full time salaried career opportunity! Qualified candidates will have experience in a similar golf course supervisory position and similar private country club environment. Demonstrated success with supervising golf course maintenance practices and leading employees is required. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting with the oversight of the overall maintenance practices of the golf course, ensuring planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees and ornamental plants are followed, proper mixing, handling and application of chemicals and fertilizers, proper use and maintenance of equipment, lead, direct and train employees regarding safe performance practices. A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in agronomy, horticulture, plant/soil science with two years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A valid FL driver's license and satisfactory driving record to meet standard's of insurability are required. Florida pesticide applicator's license, ability to work outdoors in various climates and list and/or move up to 100 pounds is necessary. Assists in the oversight of the overall maintenance of the golf course. Ensures the proper application and handling of chemicals and fertilizers. Essential Duties: ¨ Performs routine safety inspections on all spraying and fertilizer equipment. ¨ Reads, understands and keeps current up-to-date material safety data sheets (MSDS). ¨ Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with governmental regulations. ¨ Responsible for ensuring the safety and direction of chemical/fertilizer handlers and/or helpers. ¨ Maintains log of applications and files related reports. ¨ Responsible for hand spraying and maintaining proper mixing amounts and application techniques. ¨ Keeps up-to-date in knowledge of chemicals/fertilizers that are being applied. ¨ Ensures proper calibration of all spraying/fertilizing equipment. ¨ Supervises and assists maintenance staff in daily duties. ¨ Ensures all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations. ¨ Ensures associates obtain proper license needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations. Addresses directly all real or perceived environmental concerns. ¨ Assists with interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems. ¨ Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: Environmental Technician. ¨ Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs. ¨ Monitors business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses. ¨ Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. ¨ Regular and reliable attendance. ¨ Performs other duties as required.
