Assistant in Training

JOB SUMMARY: To assist the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Course Superintendent in executing details related to all golf course maintenance and supplemental club lawn care to ensure the highest level of golf play and esthetic view for club membership.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Oversees and conducts, mowing, trimming, bunker building and maintenance, pond maintenance, watering, fertilizing, pesticide applications, mulching, debris removal, signage, walkway repairs, tree trimming and removal, bride clearance, and any other needs on the course or member grounds areas.
• Contributes to the planning of daily work based on weather conditions, course needs and member play including adapting to a changing environment.
• Works with the Superintendent to manage the condition of the golf courses, including the perimeters, water channels and streams.
• Implements the cultural program to manage turf health, function of irrigation system, and follows applicable laws to apply pesticides.
• Follows an approved plan for equipment, supply, and equipment purchasing and works with Accounting to deliver accurate projections, reports, PO system, and inventory.
• Provides information to the Superintendent related to the Golf Maintenance department for compliance and tracking
• Reports equipment repair to ensure courses are maintained to the highest level expected by members
• Assists in recruiting and provides guidance and training to golf maintenance employees.
• Works with Golf Operations to ensure course work is coordinated with member golf play and tournaments.
• Ensures the highest level of course details are given attention.
• Assists the Superintendent to provide department leadership which includes coaching, communication, training, and documentation.
• Contributes to employee scheduling and communicates employee timekeeping and leave approval to the Superintendent.
• Communicate to Superintendent on a regular basis regarding projects, expenses, operational items and employee issues.
• Attend department or club meetings and trainings.
• Provide quality working environment for employees to be successful and productive.
• Ensure members and guests are treated in a professional and courteous manner consistent with the standards of The Greenbrier Sporting Club.
