The Equipment Mechanic inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in automobiles, trucks, sweepers, rollers, mowers, and other mechanical equipment used in utility work; disassemble motors and performs general overhauling; grinds valves, and repairs transmissions, differentials, carburetors, distributors, fuel pumps, steering systems, starters, generators, universal joints, hydraulic systems and high pressure pumps and valves; installs and adjusts brakes; tires, wiring and glass; may do some machining or welding work in making fittings used in automotive equipment; occasionally make emergency repairs out of the shop. The incumbent also maintains a preventative maintenance program on all equipment; purchase repair parts and replacement supplies; maintains a complete set of records for equipment and parts inventory; purchase of parts, equipment conditions, cost of repairs and preventive maintenance for all equipment; spot checks equipment for performance in the field; services or supervises servicing of equipment prior to operation’s use and is responsible for the shop area maintenance. Regulates employee use of equipment in absence of Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, if needed and performs other duties as directed by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent. Also, is a part of our small crew and will assist in the mowing and maintaining of the golf course which may include, but not limited to: mowing fairways, mowing greens, raking bunkers, mowing rough, etc. - Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment, including, diesel-, electric- and gasoline-powered automobiles, trucks, trenchers, sweepers, rollers, mowers, and other mechanical equipment used in utility work.
- Also helps oversee the maintenance of the Clubhouse small equipment repairs and Pro Shop Golf Cart Fleet when necessary.
- Instructs and/or trains golf course maintenance workers regarding preventive maintenance, and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment.
- Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work.
- Maintains a preventive maintenance program within budget on all equipment, and purchases repair parts and replacement supplies.
- Keeps a complete set of records for equipment and parts inventory purchases, equipment conditions, costs of repairs and preventive maintenance for all equipment.
- Spot checks equipment for performance on the course, makes emergency repairs to equipment on the course, and services or supervises servicing of equipment prior to use.
- Oversees the shop area maintenance.
