Currently, The Oak Park Country Club is looking for a Assistant Superintendent. The right individual will be a core member of our team and have many opportunities to advance their career and education in the turf management industry. A good work ethic, positive attitude, and a goal-oriented personality are some of the attributes the right candidate will possess. The position will give the individual a look at every facet of maintaining a golf course at the highest level.
Nestled in the western suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, The Oak Park Country Club is a private, full service, 18-hole golf and country club. Oak Park Country Club was designed by architect Donald J. Ross in 1914 and renovated in 2007 by architect Rick Jacobson. Oak Park CC is in the planning stages of installing a new irrigation system and pump station in 2023-2024. Oak Park has also just completed a Tyler Rae Master Plan and is in the planning stages of various golf course improvement projects over the next several years. The right candidate would play a critical role in the successful installation of the new irrigation system and the planning and execution of improvement projects.
Expected to be engaged, organized, and detailed regarding golf course and facility maintenance
Lead and train small crews
Properly mix and calibrate equipment for pesticide and fertilizer applications
Responsible water management practices of all playing surfaces
Repair and adjust Toro irrigation system using Lynx software
Responsible for successfully leading various projects
Snow removal of the clubhouse parking lot and surrounding buildings
Ensure correct daily equipment setup and lock up
Work in conjunction with superintendent and other assistants to improve the grounds department operations
Ability to adapt to a changing environment
2 to 4 year degree in Turfgrass Management or related degree
Have the ability to obtain a Illinois pesticide license
Valid driver's license
0-2 years golf course experience
Willing to train the right individual
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
