Equipment Manager
Atlanta Country Club
Course operation: Atlanta Country Club is a private, 18-hole golf course located in Marietta, GA, a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. Atlanta Country Club hosted the inaugural PGA tournament players championship in 1974 and was a regular stop on the tour for 20 years. The golf course consists of bentgrass greens, bermudagrass fairways and roughs, and zoysia grass tee boxes. This is a very exciting time for Atlanta Country Club as we are embarking on a complete golf course renovation set to begin in the fall of 2022 where we will be updating our grasses on the golf course, renovating the irrigation system, rebuilding bunkers, and installing hydronic technology for our greens to regulate soil temperatures. Atlanta Country Club recognizes the value of the Equipment Manager, and we tailor a program for success. Duties: The Equipment Manager reports to the golf course superintendent and oversees a mostly preventative maintenance program. The club operates on an equipment purchasing program, but we have implemented an efficient equipment replacement strategy to minimize equipment failures resulting in constant repair of old equipment. The EM is responsible for placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service and will maintain proper record keeping for purchase orders. The EM will inspect, diagnose, and repair various golf course maintenance equipment. The EM works with the assistant equipment manager as a team in troubleshooting and engaging in repairs and maintenance. The EM spot checks equipment for performance on the course, and tailors a reel grinding program accordingly. The EM will also be expected to develop a proper parts inventory system to limit equipment down time. The EM is responsible for preparing and managing the repairs and maintenance budget and will communicate with the golf course superintendent to changes in the budget. EM will be involved in equipment selection in annual capital purchases.
