| This is a technical and supervisory work in the maintenance of Golf Course ground, buildings and equipment. An employee in this class, supervises and participates in the planting, conditioning, maintaining and repairing of greens, fairways and surrounding golf course areas, including the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. Works independently under the general administrative direction of the manager who periodically inspects work. Develops, participates in and supervises daily turf maintenance programs such as aerating, top dressing, mowing, fertilizing, watering and turf repair. Makes daily observations of turf grass conditions on greens, tees and fairways to detect problems such as disease, insect infestation, weed problems, etc. Determines and administers a proper program for disease and insect control. Assigns, supervises and inspects maintenance staff engaged in the landscaping, mowing, application and recording of chemical treatments, and general care of golf course. Designs, participates in and supervises golf course renovation and beautification programs such as planting new grass, trees, ornamental plants, shrubbery and flowers. Supervises and participates in the overhaul and maintenance of machinery, mowers, irrigation systems and other equipment. Trains employees in planting of trees throughout the grounds area as needed. Coordinates and supervises the general maintenance and repair of golf course buildings. Researches, makes recommendations and purchases all supplies necessary to maintain the course. Keeps records and prepares daily reports of employees time and work completed. Conducts periodic performance appraisals for each subordinate employee. Takes daily attendance and approves vacation scheduling for subordinate employees. Attends conferences and studies current developments in the field of grass care and turf disease. Performs related work as required. |
