Golf Course Mechanic At SPIGC As the Mechanic at South Padre Island Golf Club and Resort, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of all equipment and machinery in the turf department and related areas (Golf carts, Security cartsetc.) as well as providing support to the property (club house & HOA center) in areas of related expertise. Must be able establish safety standards and preventative maintenance on all equipment in accordance with the owner’s manual. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Must be knowledgeable and capable of operating all equipment and machinery utilized by the turf department including tools and machinery needed to make related repairs or routine maintenance. • Must be proactive in implementing and logging preventative maintenance programs for all equipment in the turf department. • Must be capable of diagnosing and making informed repairs and/or maintenance of, but not limited to:Engines, tractors (gas & diesel), hydraulics, electronics, tools, or equipment (i.e., blowers, weed eaters, chain saws, reels, bed-knives, etc.) • Ensures safe work environment to include compliance with OSHA/WISHA guidelines and proper operating usage of equipment as defined in related owner’s manual specifications. • Assists in the training of team members for proper use of equipment & machinery. • Prepare all preventative plans and procedures to insure longevity of all power tools and heavy equipment. • Must complete data logs of all repairs and services done to every equipment. • Daily communication with the golf course superintendent regarding the status and condition of all turf equipment. • Maintain adequate inventory levels of parts and supplies including fuel and oil levels. • Maintain a clean and orderly work area. • On course assistance to insure proper working order of all equipment.
Overview
• Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment. • Skill in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repairupon notice. • Ability to move heavy objects as needed. • Ability to make repairs out in the field and in shop areas. • Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work. • Proficiency in computer use, knowledge of Microsoft Office and other applications as specified by supervisor. • Ability to communicate effectively and keep business records.

Overview
The equipment manager reports to the golf course superintendent and oversees a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for the golf course assets. This program includes the diagnostics and repair of failing equipment, keeping records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service. The equipment manager properly communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the superintendent and/or the assistant superintendent, and schedules and directs the work assignments of the assistant equipment manager. The equipment manager places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building.
Employment standards:
• Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment.
