Position: Part-Time
Location: Shelton Washington
Under the direction of the Head Golf Professional and the Assistant Professional (s). Starter Rangers will provide service to the golfers in the area of starting times, tee time coordination, tournament operations, rules and policies, pace of play, accurate daily play totals and any other duties needed by the Golf Professionals. Rangers direct the flow of traffic, enforces the club rules and regulations, instructs the players in the code of etiquette, dress code, oversees the Golf Course grounds and assists the players with an on course problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Starter:
Operate the starter's booth/area in a professional manner and effectively control the daily pace-of play on the Golf Course.
- Assure the orderly flow of play in accordance with the posted tee times.
- Pair singles and twosomes into appropriate games to ensure enjoyment, proper course usage and pacing of play.
- Keep a record of all rounds played, including cart usage.
- Explain daily conditions of play for the day (i.e. Cart Paths only).
- Interact with groups to ensure their understanding of rules (including Dress code), GPS System and general course information.
- Call/send groups to the tee at the appropriate time.
- Answer telephone calls in a friendly manner and help members with the day of play or fume tee times.
- Maintain an adequate supply of score cards, pencils, tees, ball markers and other items in appropriate areas.
- Assist with tournament operations as necessary.
- Be an Ambassador of the Golf Course and Resort.
Ranger:
Direct the flow of traffic, enforce the club rules and regulations, instruct the players in the code of etiquette, oversee the Golf Course grounds and assist the players with any on course problems.
- Assure the orderly flow of play while players are on the Golf Course.
- Drive the Golf Course in a reverse loop making sure to make contact with each group on the course (even if just eye contact and a smile and a wave).
- Assist with player's needs throughout their round.
- Work with Starter and Golf Shop to keep track of player's tee times and pace of play.
- Interact with groups to enforce and ensure their understanding of rules, proper GPS System usage and general course information.
- Assist slower groups with speeding up their play by: kindly letting them know that they are out of position, offering pace of play improvement suggestions (appropriate tees, "ready golf"), assisting with their pace by raking bunkers and searching for errant golf balls.
- Facilitating the "play through" of faster group through slower groups.
- Talk to groups behind slow groups to let them know you are working on the pace of play.
- Look after the overall well-being of the Golf Course by straightening hazard stakes, tee markers, ensuring bunkers are properly raked and garbage is in appropriate receptacles.
- Assist with tournament operations as necessary.
- Be an Ambassador of the Golf Course and Resort.

Requirements:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in similar position(s) preferred with an understanding of basic Golf Course etiquette and knowledge of Golf Course rules and terminology
- OR three months related experience and/or training
- OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Gaming License from the Squaxin Island Gaming Commission.
- Valid Washington State Driver's License

- Willing to work early mornings, weekends and holidays.
- Must maintain a clean, orderly appearance of both personal hygiene and uniform.
