About the Club The “Father of Golf architecture” Charles Blair Macdonald laid out the golf course and is consistently viewed as a “must play course” for golf enthusiasts, ranking among the top 100 golf courses outside of the U.S. The Mid Ocean Club has hosted several major golf events, most notably the 2007 and 2008 PGA Grand Slams of Golf. In the 1950s, leading golf course architect Robert Trent Jones made subtle improvements to the course. The Mid Ocean Clubhouse overlooks the 18th fairway and houses a main dining room, bar, two private function rooms, men’s and ladies’ locker rooms and the Golf Shop. There are twenty newly renovated rooms adjacent to the Clubhouse with breathtaking views of Tucker’s Town Cove. The Clubhouse is a relaxed and welcoming setting where members meet after idyllic days on the greens to share golfing tales over a delicious meal. In addition to incredible golf, Mid Ocean Club has other recreational amenities including magnificent beaches, pool, tennis, as well as extensive food and beverage facilities and overnight accommodations. The Club has 1,416 members, including 642 non-resident members. Resident members include many multigenerational Bermudians as well as residents and expatriates who are associated with Bermuda’s vibrant financial services industry. Bermuda has a semi-tropical climate, is located 650 miles off the coast of North Carolina, and has a population of approximately 65,000 residents. The island is a self-governing British Overseas Territory, and the economy is dominated by financial services and tourism. There are daily flights between several major East Coast U.S. cities. Gross revenue exceeds $17 million. Food & Beverage accounts for $3.5 million and annual dues revenue at $9.1 million. The Agronomy budget is $3.2 million. The Club’s 18-hole golf course is a par 71 that measures 6,530 yards. It hosts approximately 28,500 rounds annually. The greens are TifEagle and the fairways, approaches and rough are 419. The golf maintenance staff is comprised of 26 team members. The Club uses Toro Sprinklers for the irrigation hardware, the maintenance facility was built in 2003 and all equipment is owned.
