Under general supervision, the Mechanic repairs all equipment associated with the golf course and maintenance department. Responsibilities also include planning and implementing a preventative maintenance schedule for equipment, training staff in safe use and proper care and maintenance of assigned equipment, and advising the Superintendent regarding major equipment failures and/or replacement needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Inspects diagnoses, adjusts and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various pieces of golf course maintenance equipment on a regular basis Works with the Superintendent to prioritize equipment repair and maintenance work. Sets up and modifies new equipment as needed Repairs and adjusts engines and cutting mechanisms on various heavy and light mowing equipment Keeps all equipment in working order, fueled, oiled and performs related tasks as needed Sharpens mowers with grinders Maintain and keep service, repair and usage records of preventative maintenance schedule (oil, grease, air, gas, etc) Establish safety procedures and maintain safety records for equipment operation. Maintain a clean and safe work environment Demonstrate to staff the use of new equipment and train in safe operation and proper care and maintenance of assigned equipment.
Advise the Superintendent regarding major equipment failures and/or replacement needs. Perform general overhauls for equipment as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
