| Assistant Superintendent Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club is a premier, full-service, family-oriented, private club that is committed to providing excellent service to its members and guests. Turtle Point welcomes players of every age to our Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed 18-hole golf course. In 1961, George McBurney was elected Turtle Point’s first president and under his leadership the construction of the clubhouse, marina, golf course, and first tennis court were begun. World-renowned golf course designer Robert Trent Jones, Sr., was contacted to design the course layout. Since its grand opening 60 years ago, Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club has grown to over 600 members. The growing success of the club has afforded it the opportunity to host many prestigious events, including an evening with The Glenn Miller Band in 1974, the Jack Nicklaus Golf Exhibition in 1979, and the 18th Annual Southeastern Women's Amateur Team Championship in 2010. The golf course has been the host site of the SEC Championship, the State Amateur Championship, Southern Amateur, and other notable events The Assistant Superintendent will work for the Golf Course Superintendent to provide the best quality playing surfaces daily. Tasked with creating and executing timely fertility and preventative chemical application. Monitoring moisture of all playing surfaces and surrounding landscapes. Lead small projects and train staff on all levels of golf course maintenance and landscape practices. This is an Assistant Superintendent position for someone who have the dive and ambition to learn how to become a Superintendent at a Private Member Country Club. Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club has over 160 acres of maintained turf; this position needs a candidate with a keen eye for detail over a vast property. Turtle point Yacht & Country Club is a private country club established in 1961. The golf course sits on 160 acres fairways are 419 bermudagrass, tee boxes 419 bermudagrass, and greens are SR427 bent grass. Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club also offers 9 tennis courts, swimming pool and clubhouse. Job Requirements: - 2 or 4-year degree in Turf Management or related field.
- 3-5 years’ experience working on a golf course maintenance staff.
- Report to work before hourly staff in on property with a positive attitude and with the mind set to be a leader
- Possess or obtain an Alabama Pesticide applicator’s license within 90 days.
- Daily monitoring staff's productivity.
- Continue to train and cross train staff on safety and equipment operation
- Prioritizing daily and weekly job duties alongside the GCS.
- Moisture management.
- Assist in the calibration and safe mixing of fertilizer and chemical applications on the golf course.
- Keep detailed records of all fertilizer and chemical applications.
- Oversee and participate in all projects in the field. Exposed to extreme temperatures and inclement weather – Regularly
- Required to work days/nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Required to stand for long periods of time (up to 9 hours)
