Assistant Superintendents are responsible for the entire grounds of the club, including the direction and management of an agronomically based management program for the golf course, landscaping, and trees. Responsible for the maintenance and construction of golf course features, providing general management direction to all the department employees, ensuring proper fiscal management, cost controls, and fostering effective relationships with the Ownership, Golf Professional, Membership, other department heads and staff.
Work within established standards for the golf course and clubhouse grounds in coordination with the Golf Course Superintendent
Ensure the highest standards for golf course maintenance are attained
Supervise the maintenance of the golf course, clubhouse grounds, and practice facility.
Hire, train, delegate, and direct Grounds Staff as well as work with other managers within the department to achieve the goals of the department.
Oversee the planning and logistics of personnel and equipment to accomplish daily maintenance tasks.
Routinely check on employee work efficiency. Establish and monitor quantity and quality output standard for personnel in all positions within the department.
Aid in purchasing, receiving, and storing of golf course supplies, equipment, repair parts, chemicals, fertilizer and pesticides
Maintain records of fertilizer and pesticide applications, weather data, maintenance procedures, and inventory.
Supervise and aid in the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turfgrasses, trees, and ornamentals.
Aid in the ongoing maintenance through pruning and removal of the numerous trees on property.
Accountable for the development and implementation of responsible environmental policies and practices.
Aids in the management, usage and maintenance of the irrigation system.
Conduct and/or take part in regular staff meetings focusing on communication, training, safety, and hazard communication.
Aid in the management and involvement of all golf course construction and/or renovation projects.
Routinely tour and play the course to determine actual playing conditions
Manage, oversee and maintain standards of appearance and conduct of personnel. Coach and counsel employees when needed.
Ensure the effective orientation and training of all new personnel.
Provide ongoing training for the growth and development of personnel.
Responsible for the completion of all necessary paper work for all newly hired employees in the department prior to them starting work.
Maintain accurate work letters for all employees in the department
Provide an overview on maintenance programs, upcoming work, projects, issues and concerns to ownership when needed.
2-year degree in Agronomy, and at least 5 years of progressive experience in Golf Course Management.
Ability to obtain an Oklahoma Pesticide Applicators License.
Valid Driver License
