POSITION: Palmetto Hall Golf and Country Club, under the management of Heritage Golf Group, is looking for an Assistant Superintendent to help lead our team on the Arthur Hills Course and the Robert Cupp Course. The Hills course will be undergoing a renovation in the summer of 2022. The greens will be renovated along with a bunker renovation. Some irrigation and tree work will also be completed during this time. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be passionate about working in the golf industry, have a solid work history, and the desire to advance in the business. Positive work-life balance is an integral part of our culture. The essential duties of the Assistant Superintendent will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Interacts closely with the Director of Golf Course Management to ensure member expectations are met and exceeded.
Aids in the development and implementation of an agronomic plan for ultra dwarf bermuda greens and 419 tees, fairways, and roughs
Ability to analyze and solve problems, efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure and with minimal supervision.
Assigns job tasks and monitors employees in the field.
Responsible for pesticide and fertilizer applications.
Pesticide and fertilizer inventory
Proper calibration and recording keeping for all fertilizer and pesticide applications
Maintains a healthy and safe work environment
Monitors and adjusts irrigation utilizing the Toro software
Will assume the role of the Superintendent in his/her absence
Perform other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS: The candidate must be physically suited to work in a golf course maintenance environment which includes but not limited to the following:
Work weekdays, weekends, and holidays as required
Work in harsh environmental conditions
The ability to complete physical demands of job responsibilities
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or equivalent degree.
A certificate, 2- or 4-year degree in Turfgrass Science or a related field.
Strong work history with continued growth in the industry.
Possess or have the ability to obtain a South Carolina pesticide applicator license for Turf and Ornamental in the first 90 days
Renovation and grow-in experience are a benefit but not required.
Spanish language skills are a benefit but not required.
Computer skills are a benefit but not required.
