Denver Country Club is currently seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual for the position of Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. The AGCS plays an important role in the planning, directing and supervision of the staff and programs that involve the best management practices of the golf course and grounds. The ideal candidate is an individual that has previous golf course leadership experience, a passion for the game of golf, and knowledge of the science that goes into the environmental stewardship of maintaining a top caliber facility.
Job Responsibilities include:
Delegation of daily tasks and supervision of the golf course grounds team.
Trains employees on various tasks to high standards of work and safety.
Accountable for personnel management, evaluation, employee safety and well-being. Including the screening and hiring process of seasonal staff.
Maintains an active inventory of golf course supplies, fertilizers, pesticides, amendments, and health and safety supplies.
Responsible for proper use of fertilizers/pesticides according to label requirements and regulations.
Supervises and operates pesticide calibration and record-keeping for all applications made to the golf course and grounds.
Provides input and feedback to the Golf Course Superintendent on the planning and progress of daily tasks, staff developments, and areas of improvement.
Heavily involved in promotion of a healthy team culture and work environment.
Working knowledge of irrigation components and the ability to troubleshoot.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, detail focused environment, including times of inclement weather.
Working knowledge of cool season grasses, cultural practices, and common maintenance practices involved in maintaining a high caliber golf experience.
Two or four year turf degree, or applicable field of study, plus a minimum of 3 years golf course leadership experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Valid driver’s license
Ability to obtain Qualified Supervisors Colorado Pesticide License within 60 days of hire
Ability to obtain a FAA Remote Pilot license for Small Unmanned Aircraft within 120 days of hire.
