Pensacola Country Club was founded in 1902 making it the oldest private club in Florida. It is an 18-hole course designed by L. Hilton-Green and F.W. Marsh featuring a redesign by U.S. Open champion Jerry Pate in 2006. Pensacola CC hosted the Pensacola Open from 1958-1977. The club has over 600 proud members. The greens are TifEagle bermudagrass, while fairways, tees, and rough are 419 bermudagrass.
The Internship position at Pensacola CC is for people interested in a future management position in the Turfgrass Industry. We are looking for a person with high character, work ethic, and a good attitude who wants to positively impact our team and culture. In return, we will meet that person where they are in their development and cater a personal program for them to ensure that they are growing towards their own professional goals. This often involves exposure to chemical and fertilizer applications, irrigation and drainage work, equipment maintenance, and leading of smaller teams. Interns will also get a significant amount of time with the Greens & Grounds Superintendent.
Operation of all basic turf equipment
Integral member in greens management (water management, verti-grooming, venting, topdressing, chemical applications)
Involvement in course projects (irrigation, drainage, bunkers, re-sodding)
Candidate must be passionately pursuing a career as a Turfgrass Professional
Candidate should be pursuing two or four year college degree
Strong practical experience is a plus but not a requirement
Impeccable attitude, work ethic, character, and a team player
Additional Salary Information: Interns will receive $14-16/hour. Additionally, housing and uniforms will be provided, and interns will have full golfing privileges. Lastly, Interns will get to enjoy the spectacular Pensacola community highlighted by its beautiful beaches.
