Position Summary: The Assistant Superintendent works with all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the golf course. This individual works closely with the superintendent to supervise and train a large crew of full time, part time, and seasonal employees. The assistant superintendent is expected to observe golf course conditions and make suggestions. The ideal candidate will be able to recognize problems and have an eye for the details. He or she should be comfortable speaking in front of large groups and can speak basic workplace Spanish. The Assistant Superintendent is expected to interact with members throughout the day, always carry him or herself in a professional manor, and attend monthly Green Committee meetings. This person should have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, work well in a team environment, and be determined to succeed in the golf industry. Essential Responsibilities: - Supervise the staff and assist with job scheduling.
- Incorporate and enforce safe work practices. Provide safety training for employees as directed.
- Apply fertilizers and plant protectants including the calibration sprayers/spreaders. Record all applications and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Perform irrigation scheduling and make basic irrigation repairs.
- Execute and manage golf course improvement projects.
- Perform basic mowing tasks and cultural practices when needed.
