Host of the 2022 Trans-Mississippi Amateur Championship
In July of 2022 the Denver Country Club will host one of the most prestigious amateur events in golf, the Trans-Miss Championship. The Denver Country Club is one of the original 15 charter clubs of this event who’s history dates to 1901. This will be the 6th time this tournament has been hosted here and is a great opportunity for aspiring turf professionals to witness and participate in tournament preparations for such an event.
Master Plan Renovation
The Denver Country Club has recently undergone renovations as part of a master plan by golf course architect Gil Hanse. This renovation has included a redesign and regrassing of all bunkers, adding many new tee boxes to the golf course, a project to narrow the channels of the Cherry Creek that runs through the property and regrow the vegetation along the banks. Seven putting greens on the golf course have been rebuilt, the practice facility has been redesigned, and one of our ponds redone. Any intern with the ability to work an extended season will be rewarded with an abundance of practical construction, agronomic, and irrigation (PVC and HDPE) knowledge.

The 18-hole parkland style golf course boasts finely manicured native soil bent/poa annua greens, bent/rye tees and fairways, and bluegrass rough nestled in the heart of Denver. Originally a James Foulis design, the DCC has the fingerprints of Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw on it. Following a full bunker renovation in 2011, current golf course architect Gil Hanse designed a golf course master plan which is in its final stages of completion now.
