Estate Superintendent and Project Manager: Job Description
A successful candidate for the Estate Superintendent and Project Manager role must be a detail-oriented administrative service professional who possesses expertise managing multiple sites and projects. They must have knowledge of experience working within the service sector of the luxury marketplace. The Estate Superintendent and Project Manager must have experience with basic Human Resources principles and systems, as well as overall knowledge of landscape management and associated systems, such as irrigation, drainage, turf management, spa, and pool maintenance, as well as the flexibility to create new systems for future projects and features. The Estate Superintendent and Project Manager must have experience in management and must understand their role as part of a team. A successful candidate will understand the need for confidentiality in all of their activities in relation to the estates and Principal.
The Estate Superintendent and Project Manager must understand the relationship between private service and business etiquette protocols. The right candidate will have experience working on large properties and complex estate homes with fine gardens and lawns, and recreational facilities such as a tennis court, swimming pool, spa, and interpretive walking trails. The Estate Superintendent and Project Manager will have a broad knowledge of grounds-keeping systems and property/project management.
The Estate Superintendent and Project Manager will be required to have knowledge of and experience with property management; personnel management; knowledge of topics including landscape and fine gardening, turf management, budgeting and scheduling, a basic understanding of construction techniques, as well as mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems. A successful candidate will have experience with the implementation and use of software programs, such as HQ management software, as well as the ability to research, learn, and implement new software management tools.
Essential Dutiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for the upkeep, detailed inspection, and day-to-day running of a private estate landscape and complex of properties.
Inspect areas of responsibility to ensure satisfactory task completion.
Work directly with the Principal to plan and execute the overall management of the property and service.
Schedule and provide direct supervision (including background screening and oversight) of outside vendors, contractors, subcontractors, construction crews, and grounds maintenance teams, as well as directly monitoring and securing permits.
Forecast goals and objectives for property maintenance, upkeep, and repair on a weekly/monthly/annual basis.
Understand and comply with all federal/state/local regulations that affect places of employment.
Stay up to date on applicable technologies for property and project management.
Act as a point of contact and gatekeeper for the Principal – providing updates on scheduled maintenance and the current state of projects
Maintain seasonal routines and procedures for the household interior and exterior needs: landscaping, turf management, snow removal, landscape lighting, irrigation, drainage, special projects, etc.

Work Schedule:The Estate Superintendent and Project Manager position is a full-time job, often requiring hours in excess of 40 per week. Certain periods of time, and/ or emergency situations will require the Estate Superintendent and Project Manager to work additional hours in order to address the required task or situation.
Compensation: This is a full-time salaried position that includes a generous benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
