Watermark Country Club is seeking a Director of Grounds to oversee all golf course and property grounds. This opportunity is for one who has a love for golf, a true passion for the well-being and development of their team and has the desire to produce the best playing conditions in West Michigan for our members.
Watermark Country Club was first known as HIckory Hills in 1958, then became Forest Hills CC for a few years, and finally became Watermark in 1996 when our current owners took possession. Watermark was the first course in our portfolio which is now called Redwater Golf Clubs. We have 6 private clubs and 2 public courses that all provide unique golfing experiences. Our members can play our network of 6 private clubs with their one membership.
We just began a course renovation project that will continue into next year. Mike DeVries is our architect and Wadsworth Golf Construction is the contractor that will bring Mike's design to life. One new green, all new bunkers, fairway expansions, irrigation upgrades, many tee renovations are part of the plan that will transform Watermark Country Club into one of the best private clubs in West Michigan.

The Watermark Director of Grounds performs all duties necessary to provide elite country club conditions daily for our members. The director is responsible for managing all agronomic components of Watermark Country Club. This includes but is not limited to:
Evaluate greens daily to ensure consistent, firm, and fast surfaces
Continual improvement of course conditioning through cultural and other practices
Ability to communicate effectively with members in verbal and written forms about current and future course management issues
Have an exceptional eye for detail
Interact with contractors on the current course renovation project that is to be completed next fall (4 holes currently under construction)
Use continuing education and interaction with peers to stay abreast of the latest research and trends
Ability to work in conjunction with our current superintendent and staff to maintain a healthy working environment for all to achieve club goals and standards
Open communication with Golf Professional/Redwater Director of Grounds/Redwater GM of Golf and Sports
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years experience as a superintendent of a top-level club and the following:
Will have a proven track record of leading reputable courses with a history of superior course conditioning
Be experienced with poa/bent greens
Have an irrigation philosophy that provides healthy turf but also allows for firm playing conditions
Experience with golf course renovations
Possess strong leadership qualities
First-hand knowledge and use of Toro Site Pro a plus
Excellent communication skills
Ability to establish and operate within the maintenance budget
Experience creating long-range capital plans
