We are currently looking for an Intern to learn and assist in the Golf Course Maintenance Operations department.
The Golf Course Maintenance Operations Internship Program is designed to provide turf management or agronomy college students with a practical, hands-on learning experience in golf course maintenance operations, agronomic plan management and professional golf tournament preparation. This internship offers interns the unique opportunity to develop a diverse array of skills in the maintenance of both tournament and non-tournament playing conditions. The Program offers candidates the opportunity to gain the supervised work experience necessary to become Assistant Golf Superintendents. Students will be introduced to the agronomic elements of golf course maintenance as well as critical concepts such as personnel management, financial management, equipment operation and maintenance, maintenance facility organization and upkeep, fertilizer and pesticide application techniques, pesticide laws and regulations, guest communication, and environmental stewardship.
Enrolled in or recently graduated from a turf management program or related field. Basic knowledge of golf course operations and practices
Job Training and Responsibilities
Complete Intern training program as outlined in the Golf Course Maintenance Operations Manual.
Learn to perform all duties and/or tasks relative to the Equipment Operators.
Learn how to maintain logs for the operation, maintenance, and gas usage of each machine.
Perform daily tasks necessary to keep the maintenance facility clean, organized, and safe
Clean machinery after each use.
Perform other functions and routine golf course maintenance activities as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent, Senior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Golf Course Superintendent I and II.
Be thoroughly trained for the procedures at each task prior to performing task.
Be exposed to the development of an agronomic plan.
Be exposed to various aspects of financial management.
Be exposed to various aspects of Personnel management, staffing, developing and employee relations.
Special projects or other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a variety of outdoor weather conditions. Position is very active and requires lifting, pulling or pushing up to or over 50 pounds, moving and/or lifting items with awkward weights. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
