The equipment operations manager is primarily responsible for the maintenance and repair of all equipment utilized in the green department. The equipment operations manager will ensure proper functioning of all equipment through a comprehensive preventative maintenance program, including regular inspections, proactive maintenance, and the maintenance of a spare parts inventory. The program will include the repair of failing equipment, record keeping of parts and labor hours needed to maintain each piece of equipment, and placing orders for parts and supplies. The equipment operations manager communicates regularly with the superintendent and assistant superintendent the needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment, and the scheduling of equipment availability for service. The equipment operations manager places safety as a top priority, and is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized service area. The equipment operations manager purchases and maintains in good order the Club's inventory of maintenance and repair tools and machines. The equipment operations manager participates in the training of equipment operators and green staff members in the proper use, care, safety, and cleaning of the equipment. Other responsibilities and job tasks as needed and directed by the superintendent or assistant superintendent.
A working knowledge of light and heavy duty maintenance equipment, along with specialized golf course maintenance equipment.
Skill in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools and machines, and the making of various types of mechanical, electric, and hydraulic system repairs.
Working knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment.
Working knowledge of the hazards and safety of the profession.
Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system troubles, and determine appropriate maintenance and work repairs.
Ability to communicate effectively and keep computerized business records.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Knowledge of and/or ability to play the game of golf and understand how job performance affects the playing conditions of the course.
Knowledge of reel / bed knife grinding, sharpening, and maintenance.
Ability to move heavy objects and work in a variety of weather conditions.

Mendham Golf and Tennis Club is a private sports club located in Mendham, NJ. Established in 1958, the club includes and 18 hole golf course with extensive practice facilities, Har-Tru tennis courts, platform tennis courts, and a clubhouse. The maintenance building was renovated and expanded in 2015, with 2 fully stocked garage bays and a private office for servicing equipment. The Club owns a complete inventory of repair and service tools and a golf equipment lift.
