Pine Valley Golf Club is an 18-hole private golf course founded in 1913 and designed by George Crump. Pine Valley is consistently ranked as one of the top clubs in the World by Golf Digest. In addition to the Old Course, there is a 10-Hole Tom Fazio designed short course and a 20-acre double-ended practice facility.
The Equipment Manager is not only in charge of a plethora of equipment from different manufacturers, but also manages the maintenance facility. All equipment needs must be communicated to the Superintendent or Assistants to ensure no conflict of agronomic practices dues to necessary repairs to machinery. A clean shop area will be maintained with a focus on safety for the mechanics and crew members.
-Maintain a strict preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime and in-field repairs.
-Ensure that all cutting units are always sharpened regularly to maintain tournament quality conditions.
-Keep accurate records of repairs and labor costs through MyTurf or another suitable program.
-Train and supervise assistant mechanics to enable their future success as equipment managers.
-Train and supervise the grounds crew in the safe and proper use of all maintenance equipment.
-Schedule necessary building repairs with the maintenance department or hire outside contractors when prudent.
-3-5 Years as an Equipment Manager
-Must possess a thorough working knowledge of gasoline, diesel and 2-stroke engines. As well as Hydraulic systems, electrical systems, sprayers, differentials, gearboxes, and specialty equipment.
-Proficient in maintaining small equipment (blowers and string trimmers), mowing equipment including reel and rotary type mowers, as well as trucks, tractors, and heavy equipment (skid steers, backhoe and mini-excavator)
-Stress should be placed on quality of cut and cutting unit maintenance.
-Must be able to work within a budget while maintaining a well stocked parts room to allow for minimum downtime.
-Be able to work in a variety of conditions, making repairs in the shop as well as in the field.
