RESPONSIBLE FOR: Ensuring the maintenance of the golf course to meet the expectations of members, guests & visitors.
BACKGROUND: The successful candidate will lead a team of greenkeeping staff.
The role is permanent and full time. You will have the opportunity to contribute to an exciting course development program.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Always maintain a professional and welcoming approach when dealing with members, guests & visitors. Manage the golf course and greenkeeping team, as directed by the Board in accordance with the golf club’s course maintenance policy, the health and safety policy and the green keepers code of conduct.
Carry out effective turf maintenance through the establishment of schedules and programs of annual, monthly, weekly, and daily maintenance.
Ensure the course is prepared for play including marking hazards, grounds for repair and ensuring tee markers, bunkers, golf furniture and general maintenance is carried out.
Manage the preparation of machines for use.
Manage the maintenance of machines.
Operate and maintain irrigation systems.
Maintain drainage systems.
Plan and manage the control of weeds, pests, and disease.
Communicate information to staff, management and golfers including daily course updates through the club’s social media policy.
Maintain appropriate level of supplies ensuring safe and effective control of all stored materials and ground maintenance products.
Allocate work rotations and supervise greenkeeping staff.
Carry out daily safe start briefings to team members
Communicate effectively with and supervise members of the greenkeeping staff ensuring all works are carried out in a safe manner.
Be responsible for the Club obligations in respect of control of substances hazardous to health
Understand the Club health and safety policies in respect of green keeping operations
Comply with the Club policies, rules, and procedures at all times.
Work as part of a team and actively demonstrate a willingness to support and achieve the overall business objectives.
Ensure that all premises are safely secured and locked prior to leaving.
Ensure that the emergency call out list is up to date.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Minimum of 10 years experience of working within a team and managing people in an exclusive environment.
Qualified in Sports Turf management with proven experience of C 3 - C4 Turf grow-in and maintenance.
Spraying certificates essential
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Team leader skills
Training staff ability
Basic knowledge of golf course construction and irrigation systems
Experience of Health & Safety systems management
The ability to work in an efficient and effective manner in the set-up of work schedules.
Experience of the preparation and operation of greenkeeping machinery and equipment including basic fault finding and servicing requirements.
