This entry-level, hands on management position will be involved with all aspects of the golf course maintenance operation. You will assist the superintendent and the senior assistant superintendent in achieving all short and long term maintenance objectives for the property. The main focus of this position will be on the care and upkeep of the East Course and Practice Facility This position will not only be exposed to routine course care, but also course renovation work which occurs on some scale each year.
Some of the specific duties will include: the training, supervision and scheduling of multi-cultural greenskeepers, the application of all types of products to the course to achieve agreed upon maintenance standards, to troubleshoot, repair and install irrigation components, to utilize good decision making skills with regard to the scheduling of product applications, irrigation events, maintenance activities and daily course availability, to collaborate with superintendent and senior assistant superintendent to formulate, implement and monitor agronomic plans for the season, to identify and create solutions for “improvement areas” on the golf course, to seek developmental opportunities to enhance personal growth and performance.
The desired candidate for this position will be a detail oriented team player that is looking to develop his or her golf course managment and service skills at a progressive, large and active private Club. There are a lot good things happening at Farmington and we are looking to add an idividual that is interested in developing their career along with moving Farmington golf into its’ next 100 years.
Must posess or be able to obtain Virgnina pesticide applicator license. Spanish speaking is also desired. Must be able to routinely lift 50 pounds and perform all physical activities in this transition zone climate.
Additional Salary Information: This position is an hourly position that pays standard overtime rates.

Farmington Country Club is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Charlottesville, Virginia. The Club is located only five minutes from the heart of the University of Virginia's campus. Farmington is a full service, private Club with 1100 resident memberships and 1450 non-resident memberships. The main golf course was built in 1927 by Fred Findlay. The Club also has a 10-hole hybrid course designed by Coore & Crenshaw.
