Grand National is a part of Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, which consists of 11 different facilities throughout the state of Alabama. Both the Lake and Links courses at Grand National were ranked #2 & #9 respectively by Golfweek's "Best Courses You Can Play in Alabama" for 2020.
Grand National has played host to numerous professional and collegiate events, including the 2019 Symetra Tour's Zimmer Biomet Championship, 2015-2017 PGA Tour's Barbasol Championship, 2000 NCAA Men's Golf Champiionship, 1998 LPGA Tournament of Champions, 1997 NIKE Tour Championship and annually hosts the Auburn University Tiger Invitational.
The Facilities at Grand National include 36 holes of championship golf, an 18 hole par 3 course and practice facility. Current playing surfaces consist of Champion Bermudagrass, TifDwarf Bermudagrass and Dominant Plus Bentgrass greens, 419 Bermudagrass Tees, Fairways & Rough. Select tees and fairways are overseeded with perennial ryegrass in the winter. A greens renovation from bentgrass to TifEagle Bermudagrass as well as other course improvements are planned for spring/summer of 2021.
