Assistant In Training or Intern Wyoming Valley Country Club is the 5th oldest course in PA and 45th in the United States. The original 9-hole course was officially chartered in 1896. In 1924, A.W Tillinghast was selected to construct 15 new holes and redesign 3 holes from the original layout to what is now the current 18-hole course. The clubs location was selected for its scenic beaty and is easy accessibility to Wilkes-Barre PA. In the next 5 years, Wyoming Valley CC will take on a lot of golf course renovation projects with a lot of work being done in house. This is a great opportunity for an individual to start or advance in their career. Wyoming Valley CC is currently at the beginning stages working with Architect Andrew Green to complete a master plan. AIT responsibility will be assisting the Golf Course Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent in the supervision, training of maintenance staff, management of turf conditions, assist with properly applying pesticides and fertilizers to the golf course. Communicating on a daily and weekly basis with the pro shop and members to develop communication skills. The AIT will also be involved with irrigation repair and maintenance, as well as greens management, and course setup. The AIT position will work towards having weekend crew management responsibilities every other week.
