About: Briar Ridge Country Club is a private 27-hole country club designed by Larry Packard and opened in 1980. The three 9-hole Red, White, and Blue courses play between 5300 and 6900 yards. The club provides full year-round activities including fine dining, active social events, pool and tennis facilities, and numerous golf events and tournaments for members. The golf course has hosted Chicago District Golf Association and Indiana Golf Association tournaments over the past several years. The 3 courses are comprised of 5 acres of Poa annua / bentgrass greens, 6 acres of bentgrass tees, 45 acres of bentgrass fairways, large driving range tee and short game practice areas. There are 65 sand bunkers on the course which recently have been and are currently being renovated with new drainage and new sand in-house. Educational Requirements: Two- or four-year degree in Turf Management or related field. Should possess an Indiana Pesticide Applicator License or be able to obtain a license within the first year of employment. Bilingual English / Spanish beneficial, but not required. Knowledge of the game of golf preferred. Experience Requirements: Must have prior golf course maintenance experience with a leadership role preferred. Should have working experience of all golf course maintenance operations including golf course maintenance equipment operation, chemical and fertilizer application, irrigation system operation and repair, and agronomic programs including aerification and topdressing. Responsibilities: The Assistant Superintendent position will work with an experienced golf maintenance staff consisting of 22+ employees. The Assistant will lead and oversee the daily activities of the staff with attention to detail. They will work closely with the spray and irrigation technicians on chemical and fertilizer scheduling, chemical and fertilizer applications, irrigation system scheduling, and irrigation system operation. They will help plan and lead execution of course improvement projects.
