Assistant Superintendent

Necessary Knowledge and Experience

• Manage and assign daily tasks to employees based on the needs of the course
• Supervise and assist all course setup, mowing, bunker raking practices on a daily basis
• Effectively and efficiently manage a seasonal crew of 10-15 employees
• Candidate must display effective training skills with employees who may be new to the industry
• Implement and enforce safety practices to ensure a safe work environment
• Adept at scouting and identifying turfgrass diseases and pests
• Coordinate, schedule and assist in all chemical, fertilizer and topdressing applications
• Must keep accurate and detailed chemical records and inventory in accordance to local and state laws
• Knowledge of irrigation scheduling, troubleshooting, installation and repair
• The ability to deliver firm and fast conditions through various water management techniques
• Experience in bunker renovation, tree removal and construction of greens, tees and fairways
• Knowledge of the game and rules of golf
• Exceptional written and verbal skills are required
• Winter snow removal from clubhouse grounds, parking lots and paddle courts
• Ability to act in place of the superintendent in the times of his absence

Minimum Job Requirements

• Valid drivers license required
• 2 or 4 year turfgrass degree/certificate from an accredited university
• Must possess or obtain a PA pesticide license within 90 days
• Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed
• 3-5 years of experience in a management role desired, but will consider recent graduates.
