New Championship 18-Hole Golf Course will begin construction in Spring of 2021.
Big Easy Ranch is looking for a New Golf Course Superintendent to take over the daily operation of the existing 9-hole par three course and assist in the construction process of the new 18-hole championship course.
The ranch opened in 2016 with 1,400 acres as a sporting club with hunting as the primary focus, but supporting many outdoor activities such as fishing, sporting clays and golf. Today, the ranch has expanded to 2,000 acres and the vision has changed into making golf the emphasis of the ranch. World class hunting experience along with fishing and sporting clays will always be a major attraction for members and guest. Big Easy Ranch is a unique property like no other.
The Golf Course Superintendent’s responsibilities will be on the 9-hole course and the lodge compound. The area consist of approximately 40 acres of maintained turf and landscapes around the main lodge, golf academy, cabins and pool complex. Many water features and native areas surround the 40 acres of turf grass. The GCS will work closely with the Director of Agronomy to establish the best possible agronomic plan for these areas. It is the responsibility of the GCS to execute and oversee the plan daily.
Responsible for all aspects of the Golf Maintenance and Agronomic operation and personnel under these departments.
Hires, supervises and develops Assistant Superintendent, foreman, irrigation technician and other employees in the maintenance department
Works with the DOA on annual and monthly budget planning and performance.
Works closely with the Golf Proshop on all golf related events and weekly projects or practices happening on the course.
Directs and enforces all ranch policies for the staff.
Oversees the maintenance of all turf, landscape areas and water features associated with the golf course and lodge compound.
Responsible for planning and application of all the fertilizers and chemicals, while complying with local and state regulations.
Maintains inventory and oversees all repairs and scheduled maintenance of all golf course maintenance equipment
Manages the irrigation water usage, wells and pump stations.
Upholds all safety standards for employees in the shop and on the grounds.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
3 years as a Superintendent or 1st Assistant Superintendent
Leader, Communicator, Self-Starter, Problem Solver and Motivator
Skilled in supervising, training and evaluating all aspects of the maintenance crew.
Interpersonal skills to resolve conflicts at work in a professional manner.
Advanced knowledge of growing warm season grass and water usage in Texas.
Ability to plan weeks in advance and execute the plan while being able to adjust to changing circumstances
Must have a Texas Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicators License.
Ability to communicate task and job duties in English and Spanish.
