The Mechanic, works independently in the repairing and preventative maintenance of all golf course equipment. Must place safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean work area and maintenance building.
Minimum of one (1) year formal education in golf course equipment maintenance.
Minimum of one (3) year experience in a golf course mechanic position or equivalent or five (5) years experience in golf course maintenance.
Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in construction, renovation, and maintenance as related to golf course and selected sites.
Knowledge of safe mechanical operations of all other motorized equipment used in maintenance of golf course and selected sites.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions independently.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Working knowledge of the general operation of gasoline, diesel, and electric powered equipment.
Working knowledge of the proper methods of servicing, repairing, and adjusting of golf course equipment and power mowing equipment.
Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
Ability to move heavy objects.
Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions while repairing equipment.
Mechanical ability; ability to use common mechanical tools.
Adhering to proper recycling and/or disposal of various oils, compounds, and fluids.
Ability to conduct effective daily inspections of golf course maintenance equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively and keep good business records.
