The 2nd Assistant reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent. The education for this position is recommended 2 or 4 year Turf Grass degree. Under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, the 2nd Assistant Superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of golf course greens, tees, fairways, roughs, native areas, and cart paths.
Assist the Golf Couse Superintendent and First Assistant Superintendent in daily planning operations.
Supervise employees on all daily jobs such as mowing, bunker raking, tee setup.
Calibrate sprayers and apply chemicals and fertilizers to all areas of the golf course.
Record chemical and fertilizer applications.
Record daily job duties and progress of those duties.
Cultivate greens, tees, and fairways in forms of aerification, verticutting and topdressing.
Assist in greens moisture management.
Assist in irrigation maintenance and repair.
Assist in drainage maintenance and repair.
Assist in personnel management; employee safety, discipline, and teaching.
A valid driver’s license
Current Oklahoma certification as a pesticide applicator or ability to obtain one in 3 months
2nd Assistant Superintendent is expected to participate in continuing education programs to further his/her knowledge of golf course maintenance.

Oak Tree National is a private golf course in Edmond, Oklahoma. Opened in 1976 and designed by Pete Dye, Oak Tree has hosted several professional golf tournaments with the 2014 Senior Open being the most recent. Our putting greens are Dominant Plus Bentgrass while our fairways and tees are U3 Bermuda greens.
Our maintenance staff employs 10-15 employees in off season and 25-30 employees during the season.
