Shoal Creek Golf Club was opened in 1977, as one of Jack Nicklaus’s first solo designs. Located just south of Birmingham, AL, the club is rooted in Major Championships. Since its opening, Shoal Creek has hosted two PGA Championships (1984, 1990), the 1986 U.S. Amateur, and the 2008 U.S. Junior Amateur. From 2011-2015, the club hosted the Regions Tradition on the Champions Tour. The club was also the home of the 2018 U.S. Women’s Open.
In 2016, the course underwent a complete renovation of the greens and bunkers. We currently have AU Victory bentgrass greens, Zeon/Diamond zoysia tees, TifGrande approaches/rollouts, Tifway 419 rough and fairways, and Tall Fescue woodland areas on the exterior of the holes. The Short Game Practice Facility features two Tee-1 bentgrass greens, and one A1/A4 bentgrass green. In addition to the 18-hole championship facility, we have a 9-hole par 3 facility.
