The City of Austin and its surrounding Hill Country atmosphere has plentiful outdoor activities, live music & entertainment, the best BBQ in the world, and a storied history of championship golf. The UT Golf Club is a special place built upon a rich Texas golfing tradition. Our membership is very golf focused, and expects championship conditioning on a daily basis. We have several summer projects and enhancements planned, and it would be a prime time for an individual to learn construction & renovation management. The UTGC team is looking for motivated, passionate, driven and most importantly, humble individuals to join the team and better our facility and operation. Come spend a summer with us and build your network and start your career.
Interns will work directly with the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, and 2nd Assistant Superintendent. They will learn and engage in all aspects of our golf course maintenance operation. A big emphasis will be put on irrigation scheduling/repair, the calibration/application of chemicals & fertilizers, and the operation of all types of golf course maintenance equipment. Interns will also be heavily involved in our UltraDwarf bermudagrass management programs such as topdressing, vertical mowing, and moisture management. Individuals chosen for this opportunity will also gain invaluable experience working with the Equipment Technicians inside the maintenance facility, learning best practices for reel grinding/sharpening, height of cut adjustment, and bed knife grinding & angle adjustment.
The chosen individual(s) will not only get a one-of-a-kind internship experience within the golf course management department, but you will be expected to complete a club wide intern training program. You will spend time with our General Manager, Golf Professionals, F&B team, Membership Director, and all other departments within the club to familiarize yourself with the operations of a high-end private club. This will further prepare and educate you to become a successful assistant superintendent.
Your current and future potential is the most important quality we are looking for. What is your potential as a person? Future golf course manager? Where will you be in 5 years? The mindset you have towards the completion of your goals on a daily basis is the foundation for your current and future success. The potential you comprise and the development of your character as a person is what we are looking for as a part of this team. You will train and be trained to become an assistant superintendent and future leader in the industry under our program.
We are looking for individuals that prepare daily and aren’t complacent. People that stay focused with a sense of urgency and don’t settle for mediocre performance. And individuals that handle challenges well and learn from them for the future. If you have these traits, I encourage you to apply. Please send a professional resume, with a cover letter and references attached.
