Denver Parks and Recreation’s Golf Division is looking to hire two enthusiastic and hard-working Assistant Superintendents to join the teams at our Overland Park and Wellshire Golf Courses. The Assistant Superintendent will report directly to the Superintendent of their designated course, and will be responsible for ensuring high-quality turf conditions, executing golf course operation priorities set forth by the Superintendent, and managing the day-to-day course maintenance.

The Assistant Course Superintendent duties include:
Directing and supervising the work of up to 20 seasonal grounds maintenance employees
Assisting with irrigation and water management practices
Overseeing and conducting chemical and pesticide application
Assisting with planning, modifying, or redesigning of the irrigation system or course construction projects as needed
Ensuring proper winterization of the course including fencing, tarping, end-of-season agronomy practices, irrigation winterization, and chemical applications
Assisting with monitoring, controlling, and ordering maintenance inventory
Enforcing and following safety standards and practices for employees
Partnering with their assigned Recruiter to attract, interview, hire, and retain seasonal employees
Recommending employee disciplinary action to the Superintendent as needed
Performing other related duties as assigned

Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience in golf course maintenance
Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
Licensure and/or Certification: Possession of a Qualified Supervisor Turf Pest Control License from the Colorado Department of Agriculture prior to the completion of the probationary period
Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
Experience with golf course operations and turf management
Knowledge of irrigation and chemical application BMPs
Experience using and training staff on Toro LYNX Central Control System, Toro myTurf Equipment Management Software, FROST GPS Spray System, POGO Turf, and Workday highly preferred
Experience managing seasonal/on-call employees
Strong ability to be adaptable and be resourceful
Excellent collaboration and communication skills
