The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Responsible for coordinating daily golf course operations and training new employees. He/She will have a morning meeting each day outlining objectives and roles for the day. This position will set the standard for operational procedures as outlined by the Director of Golf and will oversee daily course set up.
Make or oversee the majority of chemical and fertilizer applications on the property following Florida Golf Course BMP’s. This position will oversee any large fertilizer and seed applications.All applications must be properly documented upon completion.
Work with the Director of Golf to schedule a monthly golf course maintenance program including budgeting and all applications. The Superintendent will then be responsible for implementing this plan as outlined.
Work with the Director of Golf to determine all purchasing needs and will work within a capital and operational budget as determined yearly to achieve long-range goals set by the Foundation.
Work with the Equipment Manager to ensure the maintenance facility is kept in top working condition and all maintenance equipment is being properly maintained.
Schedule all irrigation cycles as needed and follow Florida Golf Course BMP’s to ensure efficient use of water. Take a leading role in all irrigation projects or repairs on the golf course. A sound understanding of golf course irrigation is required. Set a schedule for regular head cleaning and maintenance. Log all irrigation related information including weekly preventative maintenance on the pump systems and any repairs to the irrigation system.
Participate in the hiring process as well as the employee disciplinary and review process along with the Director of Golf.
Help coordinate any large construction or renovation project on the property. This includes greens renovation, bunker renovation, drainage renovation, irrigation renovation, and regularly scheduled cultural practices.
Organize a monthly safety meeting dealing with important golf course safety issues. The Superintendent will also help maintain OSHA, EPA, and FDEP compliance on a daily basis.
Attend regular staff meetings with the Director of Golf so they will be aware of all operational goals set by the management of the Foundation.
Serve as a shadow teacher to the Chi Chi Rodriguez Academy students 45 minutes per week as assigned.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of all golf course operations is a must for this position.
Minimum of (3) years of golf course experience in an advanced crew position is required (i.e. Spray Technician, Irrigation Technician, Assistant Superintendent, AIT).
2-year turf degree or 1 year certificate from an accredited Turf Science program with any other 2 year degree is preferred
Ability to operate and train employees on all golf course maintenance equipment is a must.
A working knowledge of hydraulic and electric golf course irrigation is required including repairs on up to 6” PVC pipe.
The ability to learn Toro Site Pro is required.
Knowledge of fundamental chemical application techniques is required. Common disease, weed, and pest identification is required.
Must be organized and self-motivated.
Must be able to keep accurate records.
Should be able to lead grounds crew employees in a positive and reaffirming manner by setting a positive example.

Valid Florida Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 90 days
Valid Florida Pesticide Applicators License or ability to obtain within 90 days
Florida GI-BMP or ability to obtain within 90
Florida Limited Commercial Fertilizer Applicator License or ability to obtain within 90 days
Florida Golf Course BMP or ability to obtain within 1 year
