The Assistant Superintendent performs, supervises and inspects all aspects of maintenance of the golf course under the direct supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
Assists in the execution, supervision and evaluation of all turf management programs and practices, including maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, rough, bunkers and all other golf course facilities.
Assists in operation and maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems.
Schedules, trains and oversees the completion of responsibilities assigned and ensures the quality of work performed for the personnel assigned to department. Must be able to address complaints and resolve problems.
Instructs and trains golf course associates in the care and safe and efficient operation of all golf course equipment.
Supervises and participates in morning set-up of course and maintains course in proper playing condition.
Maintains accurate application records and logs for weather work and cultural practices as required.
Search the course regularly for insects, weeds and diseases. Diagnose observations and take corrective action after discussion with Golf Course Superintendent.
Insures that chemicals, petroleum and other controlled products are used, stored, and disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Maintains required records and strives to minimize the use of chemicals and petroleum products.
Attend seminars for continued professional development.
Performs the duties of the Golf Course Superintendent when absent.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Ability to supervise and delegate all tasks necessary for the maintenance of the golf course.
Must be able to communicate effectively with all supervisors and golf course personnel.
Knowledge of use and operating standards of equipment and tools used in golf course construction and maintenance work.
Knowledge of the game of golf, golf rules and methods of play.
Minimum of two years golf course experience.
Must possess a Valid Driver's License.
Must possess a Valid Florida State Restricted Use Pesticide Application License or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
Fluency in the Spanish language is desirable, but not required.
