Responsible for all phases of Golf Course Maintenance including cost control and personnel.
Work closely with, advises, and coordinates with Head Golf Professional on issues related to course maintenance and club events and activities.
Reports to the Club General Manager and works closely with Grounds Chair.
Oversees care and maintenance of turf, shrubs, trees and ornamental plants.
Recruits, supervises and retains maintenance staff. Conducts employee performance evaluations and exercises disciplinary action.
Provides technical, operational and safety training for employees to ensure that staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions.
Oversees staff in proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment.
Plans and budgets, in coordination with the Board, for additional or replacement capital equipment.
Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) on the Club’s grounds in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
Supervises and controls all maintenance expenses associated with Golf Course Operations, including payroll, supplies, chemicals and fertilizers.
Develops an annual operating budget and plans for maintenance and capital improvement projects.
Maintains records and completes required reporting. Orders parts, supplies and equipment as needed and consistent with Club spending guidelines.
Applications for this position must be received no later than August 1, 2020. Hire date targeted for September 2020 with anticipated October start date.
Applicant experience base must be appropriate for region, including knowledge of local climate and horticulture.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Knowledge of management and maintenance of green, fairways, and roughs
Knowledge of use and operation standards of equipment and tools used in golf course maintenance work.
Skill in recruiting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating and motivating personnel.
Interpersonal skills in conflict resolution with staff, employees, Board and members.
Knowledge of safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and commercial products.
Knowledge of the game of golf and rules of play.
3 - 5 years of experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or 1st Assistant.
2- year degree or Certificate in Turf Management (or related field).
Demonstrated experience and capability in the areas of budget development. fiscal management, strategic planning, staff management.
Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
Computer skills required for reporting and control of operations.
Valid driver's license.
Prefer Class A Membership GCSAA.
Prefer ability to speak Spanish Language.
